Wanderlust - a great desire to travel and rove about
Monday // 8•25•14
I got up at 08:00 trying to drag myself out of bed so I could be at the Guest House by 09:00. (when work starts)
After getting breakfast and coffee I went to say hi to everyone that works at Sole Hope or is staying with them.
I was so happy when I got to take pictures with the kids and to make it even better I had the 4 month old fall asleep in my arms.
Today we manly worked at the outreach house getting it ready for the grand opening which I think is next week.
On one of the trips from the guest house to the outreach house Eric and I rode on top of the Matatu
aka the van. It was awesome until I almost got hit by not one but two trees.
Thankfully Eric was up there and pulled me out of the way just in time. Another exciting thing that happened to me was that I got my first Jigger and had Teddy (our head nurse) remove it for me. It actually didn't hurt that bad but on the other hand I did only have one in my toe.
At 17:00 we end work and head over to the guest house to pick up dinner which our in house cook so graciously makes for us everyday except weekends.
After we walked home and had dinner the power went out but thankfully I was able to get everything I wanted to get done before the power went off.
So until next time
Ttfn.

Hard days
Wednesday // 9•10•14
This is one of those days that makes what we do hard.
After a normal morning I headed over to the Outreach house where I started to help one of our nurses with the Jaja who has a really bad case of jiggers.
When the Jaja wouldn't allow us to remove anymore the nurse had to try and convince her to allow us to remove just a few more.
As the nurse was talking to the Jaja I started working on a little 3 year old girl who didn't speak English and ended up not having to many jiggers, but doest trust white people or likes people touching her.
When I started working on her feet she suddenly started screaming and didn't stop until I was done.
It was heart breaking listening to her scream knowing I was the one inflicting the pain on her.
The only comfort was that I knew the pain she felt would be done and over with when I had removed all the jiggers.
After completing the task at hand the little girl snuggled up to her mom and found comfort in her arms.
I then proceeded to clean up the area, praying that God would give me the strength for the next time as He did in this situation.

An Accident
Friday // 9.19.14
So, to start the day off I helped with intake on the new outreach kids, and at 13:30 we started removing jiggers from some of the kids. We had to stop at 15:00 for a football game we were going to play with the staff and team but sadly it got canceled.
Eric (Sole Hopes handy man) had to get some things in town so I decided to go and help out.
On our way to town we were driving on one of the busy streets when all of a sudden we t-boned another motorcycle.
The first thing I remember before we crashed was seeing a motorcycle pull out in front of us. Eric slammed on the brakes but I knew It was inevitable that we would still crash in to it.
The next thing I remember was lying on the street with a lot of people around me and then someone helping me up. I then grabbed Eric's backpack but couldn't find him. I saw the boda was okay or at least I thought it was.
Someone put the boda upright and then started walking away with it, a lady told me to go with it, I couldn't really think and walk right so I grabbed on to the boda and started walking into an alley where I then sat down on a bench waiting with Eric, who had somehow managed to make it over to the bench, for the guys to fix the front tire so that we could get what we needed for Eric.
Once we were done I asked Eric to drop me off at the Guest House because I could not contain my pain anymore.
After I got inside I sat down with my head in one hand and my other on the floor to ground me so I could somewhat keep track of what was up and what was down.
At dinner time I wasn't hungry but decided it would be good for me to try and eat something. (This part I was told). As I got to the kitchen I collapsed on the floor and had to be carried to the living room. Once I woke up I then was carried to the couch were I sat until Asher helped me to the spare room for me to lay down in.
I felt like my head was going to explode with so much pain but thankfully I was able to get some sleep.
